The following facts that you may find interesting and humorous have been
provided by Mike Fex
who looked over past record books of the Hose Company.
- 5/11/15: Motion by Edward Evans that bylaws "be adopted
at 2nd reading" & trustees buy a
feed box for horses. 28 keys to new hose house were purchased.
5/24/15: Trustees authorized to buy a new whip and new feather duster. Committee to request $250 per year from council
6/7/15: Motion to have charter framed.
9/13/15: Committee authorized to buy new "suits". Motion to grant Baptist Church permission to use our toilet.
10/4/15: Granted Mid Valley Hospital permission to use the hall.
11/1/15: Company to buy pool table $110 + $32 for accessories.
3/5/17: Wash Evans appointed janitor at $10 per month.
4/2/17: Motion Evans "No more than 5 members on the wagon at one time.
6/4/17: Motion to purchase a white cap for the foreman.
6/8/17: Motion to buy (5) $100 "Liberty Bonds".
6/3/18: Chas. Rouse left for Camp Mead, W.W.I.
10/1/18: Company not satisfied with new cue ball- returned for refund.
4/7/19: Motion to suspend Schuyler Kase, Alfred Leek, & Thomas Evans for non-payment of dues. ($2.70) (They were later reinstated- 10/4/20) $.10 telephone bill disputed- company will not pay!
7/7/19: Motion to allow men who have been in service to meet here for purpose of organizing a camp called "The American Legion"
9/18/19: Isadore Berger, owner of New Feed Mills, offers Hose Company the use of the Feed Mill for a dance when building is completed.
6/21/20: Company has $1856 toward purchase of new truck. Also, a $400 donation was
received from Wilson Hose Co. #1 to help our company purchase a motor-driven truck. They gave us their allotment from council.
7/6/20: Voted to allow Camp William Hopkins to meet 2nd Monday of month.
7/19/20: Motion to draw orders for $2,000 to Bates Motor Company. (Utica, N.Y.) as part of payment on truck.
9/7/20: Additional $1,500 sent to Bates. -Total cost; $3.895.35
9/20/20: Truck Committee reports that the 1920 Stewart truck arrived & it was up to specifications & they were satisfied. Also, stables are to be torn down. Painting done by John Smetana. Mr. Bates to instruct as to operation of truck & chemical apparatus.

Company turned down 50/50 proposition to show Sunday movies.
1/17/21: Purchased electric heater for truck. -$14.00
1/3/27: Cost of new MACK truck at $4,940 discussed Schuyler Kase to drive new truck home from Factory Co. chanced off a new Buick Auto won by Mrs. Thomas Michaels.
7/5/27: New Mack Truck arrived, very bad paint job- Truck returned for repainting & other defects. Returned back to us 6/4/28.
1/5/31: Motion to purchase 600 gal. American La France Truck for $9500.
2/2/31: Lunch for 14 men at Parry's Lunch Room for total cost $3.20.
4/27/31: Recorded New American La France truck.
8/1/32: Eynon Hose Company interested in purchasing our Stuart Truck for $500 cash, or $600 in payments.
6/29/33: American La France Company notifies us that we are delinquent in payments due on truck.
9/6/38: Raised initiation fee to $5- (originally was $1, then $2, $3..)
12/4/39: Eugene Bourger elected mascot of Blakely Hose Co. #2.
7/1/40: Voted to put International Chassis on Mack Truck. -Cost 2,002
10/8/46: Envelope drive a success! Raised $806.05
12/2/46: First Scott Air Pack demonstration.
4/7/47: Plaque donated for 5 life members.
5/3/48: Jim Calvert knocked wall down & bent fender on Intl. Truck- suspended for 1 year.
1/12/49: Motion to buy auto car truck- Approx. $13,673. Motion delayed 1 yr. to 12/14/49.
6/5/50: Envelope Drive- $838- new auto car received
5/4/59: Report of 5 men burned at fire- Ralph Clark, Boxer Davis, Howard Beattys, Mike Slaboda, and Joe Ploskonka.
7/5/60: Purchased new Ford Truck- $11,570.
David Thomas was Recording Secretary from 1919-1945.
